Professional service and outreach

2024- Designer and co-ordinator of the independent linguistics research project, Human Inside, registered with the Centre for Open Science (OSF), and selected for Project Launch at NWAV52 (Miami, Nov 7–9, 2024).The project investigates whether the human contribution in hybrid human–AI writing can be systematically identified by analysing linguistic features in post-edited AI outputs. Using a mixed-methods approach (qualitative coding and quantitative distributional analysis), the team examines language-specific and cross-linguistic phenomena most affected by human intervention. Burnett coordinates English-language data with Dana Di Pardo Léon-Henri (Université Franche-Comté) and manages the French team (Radia Hannachi, Université Bretagne Sud), the Mandarin team (Lian Chen, Université d’Orléans; Yundong Geng, Huazhong Agricultural University, China), and the Portuguese team (Sílvia Lima Gonçalves Araújo, Universidade do Minho).
